Postcards: Sarasota History
A view of J.C. Brown's home, Cherokee Lodge, located in his dream development Cherokee Park. Brown was a silk manufacturer born in Scotland who came to Sarasota from New Jersey. The home was designed by architect Thomas Reed Martin and was completed in 1926 at a reported cost of $500,000. The lodge was sold in 1931 and ultimately demolished in 1962 when canal front lots were developed.
