Badger Drugs was at the Southwest corner of Main Street and S. Pineapple Avenue. It had great hamburgers and was a hangout and meeting spot for people of all ages. Helen Griffith, the Main Street Reporter for the newspaper, got a lot of leads there for her column. Good times!

First Baptist Church is a Sarasota Landmark

Religion has always played an important part in the development of Sarasota. Even though the population was small, several denominations were organized in the late 1890s and early 1900s. The First Baptist Church was organized on March 23, 1902, with five charter members: the Rev. Henry Messer, James Bates, Nathan Hayman, Mrs. Kiziah Messer and Patsy Dancy. The Rev. P.O. Miller was the first regularly elected pastor and James Bates was the first clerk.

First National Trust Company Headquarters

The two-story, three bay buff brick Neoclassical Revival Style building located at 1586 Main Street, was built prior to 1929 and served as the headquarters of the First National Trust Company of Sarasota.
