The Sarasota Alliance for Historic Preservation presents their Twenty-Sixth Annual Historic Homes Tour on St. Armand’s Key this March 6, 2016. The hours are from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., rain or shine. Every year the Alliance draws sell-out crowds of people who are thrilled to see inside Sarasota’s historic homes that are well preserved and tastefully decorated.

This study in yellow has recently undergone a remodel and large garage added to the original house. I am so pleased it resembles the main house with close attention paid to the details, especially how the carport links the two. This is always important to keep the same theme, especially in older homes. It is located West-of-the-Trail south of Bahia Vista Street and north of Arlington Street. 

I love the colors used on this charmer; they all tie together so effectively. And, did I mention how much I like porches? This one is not screened-in and I bet it is comfortable and inviting to the homeowners and their guests, despite mosquitoes, gnats, and no-see-ems.

Remember the great-looking bungalow in the last newsletter? Well, this charmer is on the same street! I love the shutters and the shape of the front door and its screen door.

Over this past weekend, I was out and about looking for some new “Drive by Gems” to post in the newsletter. I came across this beautifully-restored Craftsman Bungalow in the West-of-the-Trail.

Okay, okay, I know I normally don’t show a historically designated home as a 'Drive By Gem,' but when I recently came out of the bank on a gorgeous day, I could not resist taking a pic of this well-appointed home. It is in the Avondale area and that neighborhood is remarkable. Spend some time walking it (or driving) for a treat.

There’s plenty to be thankful for this time of year, and you are at the top of our list. We really appreciate you keeping up with our unique and fascinating history.
